Review from Bob Waruszewski - ignitumtoday.com |

So, how does a Catholic date in the modern world? Granted, pop culture gives us a picture of what we should avoid, but that does not answer the question. When is kissing appropriate in a relationship? Is kissing for more than six seconds sinful? How can dating truly bring us closer to God? How do I know that this is the person I should marry? The book, How Far Can We Go, seeks not to answer all of your questions on dating, but to give you a solid Catholic understanding of relationships so that you can answer your own questions through prayer and an informed conscience.
Bob Waruszewski is a 22-year-old cradle Catholic from Pittsburgh, PA. He recently graduated from St. Vincent College with a bachelor’s degree in both mathematics and economics. Currently he works for a natural gas company in the Pittsburgh area and helps organize Young Adult Ministry events on the side. In his free time he enjoys sports, hiking, reading and chess. His favorite Saint is St. Joseph.

A clear and concise guide on sex and dating in the Catholic Church.
What does the Church say about sex and dating? Too often, Catholic teens and young adults get all their information on this topic from the secular media. If they do hear something from people in the Church, much of what is being said is misguided, impractical or both.
This embarrassment-free presentation, designed to take seriously the concerns and social realities of today's teens and young adults, sets out a Catholic approach to dating and sexual relationships in simple, direct language. This short, entertaining and very helpful book is the result of extensive workshops with teenagers in both school and parish settings. As a result, the approach taken by the authors is both unapologetically Catholic—and definitely “theologically correct”—while at the same time completely open in its direct presentation of human sexuality.
This book is a must have for Catholic teachers, high school chaplains, youth minsters, campus ministers, parents and anyone else who deals with these questions from young people on a regular basis.

Book Review by Cornelius (Con) O’Mahony |

My niece and nephew were visiting from England this summer and How Far Can We Go? (Leah Perrault and Brett Salkeld, Novalis 2009; ISISBN 978-2-89646-123-3) was sitting on top of a pile of books in the living room. The title grabbed my thirteen-year-old nephew’s attention but as I explained what the book was about, he dropped it very quickly. My seventeen-year-old niece, however, picked it up later and read most of it on one of the rare afternoons that she was taking a rest from the “shops.” She had high praise for what the authors were trying to do and wished that she had teachers who were as smart and willing to be as honest on these subjects as these authors are.
